If you prefer less pretties and more reading, here is what the above says πŸ˜‰

Amy Cook Photography and Lindsey Scholz Photography are CO-TEACHING a newborn weekend retreat. Click our names to check out our Facebook pages. Amy’s website can also be viewed at www.amycookphotography.com. Lindsey’s is under construction:)

This workshop is going to be crazy amazing. It’s more than just a workshop, but an all-inclusive retreat. A comfortable, inspirational learning environment.

You will get to spend 3 (THREE!) nights with us in a gorgeous cabin and all 6 of your main meals will be included. We will have snacks (the healthy kind, and the junky kind) and beverages provided but you are always more than welcome to bring anything of your own if you have a special diet/prefer specific things! Feedback is appreciated too because it makes it easier for us to plan anyways:)

2 full days of instruction- Saturday January 18th and Sunday January 19th.

On Saturday, we will begin with a morning lecture/presentation, and then have 3 models and lunch during the course of the day. We will break for dinner, and do some casual photoshop work in the evening:)

Sunday will be the day of hands-on. We will wake up a little bit later, have a brief morning recap, and then start the day with our first set of babies. Yes, friends, I said SET of babies! On day 2, we will have TWO beanbags going at all times, and you will be divided into two groups of 4. One group will work with Amy, while the other group works with Lindsey. We will still be setup right beside each other and be teaching together, but this will be your hands-on experience! There will be 4 babies for EACH beanbag that day, so a total of 8 babies in the cabin:)We will go through Photoshop again, but this time you’ll be working on your own images, with critique from us. We will have dinner again, and do some bonding and Kumbaya and all that πŸ˜‰

From sunrise to sundown, we are at your disposal. Hope you can hang πŸ˜‰

You will get to learn from two different photographers with two totally different shooting and editing styles! Twice the fun!

We will cover SO much. Things like session, studio and parent prep. Finding the best light. Styling newborn sessions and baby safety. Posing babies, as well as soothing difficult or fussy babies. Parent and sibling posing. Transitioning between poses to not wake baby. Angles. MORE!!

DATES: Friday night, and Saturday-Sunday January 18-19th, 2014. Lodging is included for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.

COST: $1650 per person. There are a total of 8 seats. This cost includes ALL 6 of your main meals, snacks, drinks, the entire weekend of instruction, your THREE NIGHTS of lodging, a goodie bag, and a comprehensive guide to take home with you! You will also get Amy’s formal Newborn e-guide on top of that.

DEPOSIT & PAYMENTS: A $500 deposit is required to book your workshop seat. A second payment of $500 will be due on October 4th, with the remaining balance of $650 due on January 4th.

Kylee Sarver - Hello! Was wondering if you still have an opening for the 3 day retreat. Also, what are the requiements? Do i have to be well expeienced in shooting manual?

July 2, 2013 - 6:34 pm

admin - Hey Kylee! That is the only requirement- you must be skilled in using your DSLR in manual mode. We are more than happy to help you with our own tips on how to BEST meter for certain setups and lighting etc, but we won’t be teaching DSLR 101 so that the class can focus on everything newborn! So as long as you are comfortable with your camera in manual mode, you’re golden! Thanks!!

Nikki - I was wondering if you still have openings for this workshop? Myself and a couple of friends are interested. Around what time would we need to arrive on Friday?

August 15, 2013 - 4:12 pm

admin - Hi Nikki!

You could arrive whenever you liked, but I would say no later than 9pm! Dinner is not provided Friday, but you are welcome to arrive any time after 5pm :) I’m going to email this to you as well, since I’m not sure how notifications go in terms of blog post replies. Thank you!! :)

Susan Haney - Do you plan on doing more of these? Not sure I can workout this time this year. I am in Arkansas so this will take some planning for me. I still work full time at my job, so I will have to work around that an family commitments, but this is something I want to get into as I reach my retirement…this sounds like the perfect environment…so lucky to find you on facebook…God bless you both..

admin - Hi Susan! It was a brand new idea, so we will be seeing how this one goes first, and then deciding after that :)
